Expiry of Retrospective Vetting Timeline

May 2, 2018

Notification from the National Vetting Bureau

The timeframe set by the Minster for Justice & Equality for the submission of Retrospective vetting applications to the National Vetting Bureau (NVB) concluded on the 30th April 2018.

All retrospective vetting applications submitted by your school to the National Vetting Bureau up to midnight last night, have met the requirements of Section 21 National Vetting Bureau (Children & Vulnerable Persons) Acts 2012 to 2016. This being the case, applicants who fall within this category can continue to conduct relevant work or activities, as they have complied with the legislation by having their applications submitted to the National Vetting Bureau before the deadline.

Vetting applications in respect

Vetting applications in respect of persons who fell within the remit of Retrospective Vetting, which are received at the National Vetting Bureau after the 30th April 2018, do not met the requirements of Section 21 National Vetting Bureau (Children & Vulnerable Persons) Acts 2012 to 2016.  This being the case, applicants in this category cannot conduct relevant or activities until you receive a vetting disclosure back from the National Vetting Bureau in respect of them.

I wish to remind all organisations that it is an offence for your organisation to permit any person to whom Section 21 applies, to conduct relevant work or activities after 30th April 2018, if an application for vetting had not been submitted to the NVB in respect of them by that date.
